About the Role: Our client is at the forefront of technological innovation, and they are currently seeking a seasoned technology leader to join the team as the Head of Next Generation Networks.
This pivotal role requires a professional with over 15+ years of experience in tech, in leading the transformation and management of our clients international and domestic networks. This position involves overseeing network operations across approximately 60 countries, 300 campus sites, 3,000 branches, and 4,000 ATMs, making it a role of significant global impact and responsibility.
Your Role: As the Head of Next Generation Networks, you will be responsible for:
- Network Management and Transformation:
- Lead the management and transformation of a vast network infrastructure, ensuring efficient, cost-optimal, and highly resilient services.
- Drive the transition to next-generation solutions, notably Software Defined Networking (SD-WAN), aligning with the company’s strategic goals.
- Team Leadership:
- Manage and develop a global team of approximately 25 professionals, focusing on coaching and mentoring to transition to an engineering-driven organization.
- Foster a culture of learning and collaboration, ensuring cross-functional working to develop team members across the global CTO community.
- Vendor and Relationship Management:
- Maintain relationships with global carriers, hardware/software suppliers, and a major network managed service provider.
- Ensure service quality targets are met and drive continuous improvement through effective vendor management.
- Strategic Planning and Budget Control:
- Own budgetary responsibilities, including approval flow and vendor risk management, ensuring optimal allocation and utilization of resources.
- Lead strategic planning initiatives to consolidate and reduce infrastructure complexity and develop cloud-based platforms.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Build trusted relationships with senior leadership across Telecommunication Services and the global CTO function.
- Influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders (CIO, COO, CEOs) to ensure consensus and drive successful outcomes.
- Operational Excellence:
- Implement DevOps, disciplined Agile, and automation to efficiently deliver products and services.
- Ensure adherence to risk management controls and compliance standards, enhancing operational controls and risk mitigation strategies.
Critical Skillsets Required:
- Technical Expertise:
- Strong depth and breadth of technology knowledge, especially in managing complex global data networks.
- Experience in SD-WAN and cloud-based infrastructure solutions.
- Leadership and People Management:
- Proven ability in leading, influencing, and driving teams to deliver high performance.
- Capability to develop critical skillsets in team members and establish effective career paths.
- Vendor and Carrier Management:
- Demonstrable track record in managing relationships with global carriers and suppliers.
- Skill in negotiating and managing large-scale technology transformation programs.
- Strategic and Agile Approach:
- Ability to drive strategic initiatives and respond to changes in an agile and structured manner.
- Expertise in implementing best practices in policies and governance frameworks.
Qualifications:
- Degree level education or equivalent.
- At least 10+ years of management level experience.
- Advanced proficiency in English.
