Our client, a leading global bank, is seeking a talented and experienced VP Financial Engineering – Lead Developer to join their dynamic team in Krakow, Poland. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Python developer to make a significant impact in the financial services industry by designing and implementing innovative modelling solutions for Global Treasury.
Position Overview
As the VP Financial Engineering – Lead Developer, you will play a crucial role in driving the development and implementation of cutting-edge Python-based modelling solutions for our client’s Global Treasury department. You will work closely with business stakeholders, quantitative analysts, and IT professionals to create synergies across different functions and contribute to the end-to-end design and planning of robust and reusable solutions that address evolving business and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and implement Global Treasury Python-based modelling solutions from scratch
- Support the development and implementation of Global Treasury containerised solutions and CI/CD automations
- Deliver a coding environment that is easy to use, robust, and fully reusable
- Provide automated solutions for fast and agile model build and deployment
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, quantitative analysts, and IT to create synergies and contribute to end-to-end design and planning
- Implement software strategically, following best practices to ensure compliance with evolving business and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with the Head of Financial Engineering to ensure smooth change management and maintenance of the system
- Collaborate with quantitative analytics teams to build practical and workable software solutions that comply with accounting, regulatory, and other requirements
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience designing and building large-scale backend applications and systems in Python for local and cloud environments
- Strong focus on developing new Python libraries, designing and implementing APIs, and integrating with other systems (databases, storage, frontends, etc.)
- Experience building containerised solutions and CI/CD pipelines for end-to-end automations on cloud-based platforms (GCP, Docker), preferably utilising Jenkins and GitHub integration
- Expert knowledge of at least three of the following: Python, FastAPI, Apache Airflow, S3, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker
- Experience in writing and reviewing technical documentation and leading test-driven development
- Knowledge of finance, particularly quantitative finance, and experience in risk or analytics is a plus
