Our client is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Database & Lake Platform Security to join their Global Defense Engineering team in Krakow, Poland. This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to play a pivotal role in defining and implementing robust security measures for their database management systems and data lake platforms.
Position Overview
As the Head of Database & Lake Platform Security, you will be responsible for establishing secure configuration baselines for a wide range of database management system software, including Oracle, Db2, SAP ASE, SQL Server, Db2 z/OS, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Teradata, and HADOOP. Collaborating closely with database technical subject matter experts, you will develop and implement compliance checks, provide remediation guidance, and ensure the Configuration Baseline Management team receives accurate compliance data. This role requires strong stakeholder management skills, as you will interact with various stakeholders across the organisation to understand their security needs and expectations.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain secure configuration baselines for database management system software, including Oracle, Db2, SAP ASE, SQL Server, Db2 z/OS, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Teradata, and HADOOP
- Collaborate with database technical subject matter experts to agree on secure configuration baselines, develop compliance checks, and provide remediation guidance
- Ensure the Configuration Baseline Management team receives accurate configuration compliance data
- Engage with stakeholders across the organisation to understand their security needs and expectations
- Define and maintain capability strategy in response to business strategies, regulatory expectations, technology advancements, best practices, and evolving threat actors
- Ensure successful delivery with partners, running respective delivery forums, QBRs, SteerCos, and Capability PODs
- Maintain and prioritise a capability backlog based on objectives and value released to identify team priorities
- Support the prioritisation of backlogs from supporting technology and operations/service teams
- Collaborate closely with Control Owners, overseeing their activity from a technical perspective
- Work closely with Service Owners to understand general performance, exceptions, customer feedback, and service uplift roadmaps
- Partner with Technology/Platform Owners to understand general performance, significant bugs, technology health, customer feedback, and technology uplift roadmaps
- Run a Pod per L2 capability with Architecture, Engineering, Service Delivery, Control Owner, Programme Manager, and Product Management
- Own all medium-rated and below risk Control Issues, Audit points, and Regulatory findings
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ in-depth experience with multiple database technologies from the list of Oracle, Db2, SAP ASE, SQL Server, Db2 z/OS, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Teradata, and HADOOP
- Demonstrated experience with database platform security
- Minimum 2 years’ experience leading a technical team
- Demonstrated understanding of and experience with Center for Internet Security (CIS) benchmarks
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated experience of understanding and meeting the needs of multiple stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language
